Queen Helene Mint Julep Masque Review

A Great, Inexpensive Retro Classic

MidwestGirl
The Product: This kitschy, retro masque has been a favorite of women for generations; definitely a total cult classic. With an old fashioned packaging, this was certainly not the sleek and chic sort of skin care product that I was used to.

The Experience: Women are constantly talking about what a fabulous on the spot overnight treatment the Mint Julep masque is for blemishes, but today I decided to try it as a full on mask. The green goop comes out thick, and I can imagine that it probably becomes difficult to get out of the tube as the amount of product left lessens. It smells intensely like spearmint gum.

I slathered it on thick, and it instantly made my face tingle. But it was a pleasant tingle as opposed to an uncomfortable one - almost like the sensation of having your face sprayed with a cool mist. I left the mask on for ten minutes, as the directions on the tube suggested. Like most clay based masks, it hardened, turning a darker green color and cracking slightly.

The Aftermath: After washing off, my skin felt super soft. Although the red marks of the pesky blemishes on my forehead were still present, they were no longer raised, as the mask had managed to dry them out. Also, the visible pores on my nose felt a lot tighter. I certainly had that slightly glowing post-mask look, but after putting my make-up on, I looked completely airbrushed.

The Grade: The Queen Helene Mint Julep Masque retails for under $2.00 at CVS or Walgreens and dries pimples quick, giving skin an awesome pick me up. I give it a definite A-.
