Queens Chronicle by Big Noyd - Album Review

Rich Jones
Big Noyd is one of the best-known and most successful rappers from Queens, New York. There is a good reason for that, he has been rapping since 1993 and he is an affiliate of the group Mobb Deep. This is a group that has sold millions of records around the world according to Billboard charts available via Billboard.com. In my opinion what makes Mobb Deep so successful is the ability of the members to fit together so well and create a unique sound that the group is well known for. Noyd brings in confidence and swagger that any rapper needs to be successful. Prodigy brings the hardcore and hard-hitting lyrics and Havoc brings the unique urban beats that create the sound the group has become so well known for. Together their sounds have lead to a lot of success and the group eventually spread out into doing solo projects prior to their involvement with 50 Cent. I have been a fan of Big Noyd ever since I heard his track titled The Grimy Way produced by Alchemist along with Prodigy. For this reason I decided to pre order his upcoming album titled Queens Chroniclevia Amazon but I thought I would listen to the CD via Youtube before it arrives in stores to see what I would be getting.

The CD includes 14 tracks and the length is about 40 minutes from start to finish. The album includes features by Lyadede, Termanology, Ghetto, The God Ali, Loki Of Essoill, Dog Of ACD, and Profit. I feel that these features helped the music despite the fact that Mobb Deep does not appear on the album. The best tracks on the CD are Kilo Rap, Money Time, and New York Lights. What I like about this album is that it contains all the hardcore lyrics that we have come to expect from Noyd. I think the other two members of Mobb Deep felt pressure to become less hardcore and more commercial after signing to G-unit. However, this album has plenty of hardcore lyrics and I believe any fan of Mobb Deep will enjoy this. While I enjoyed the hardcore lyrics I wish that Prodigy appeared on this CD. It also bothered me that the CD was so short. They should have filled it up with material for the $10 price tag. I would rate this album 4/5 because I enjoyed the lyrics and appearances on this album.
