Question Everything's Thought of the Day October 31, 2007

Happy Halloween!

S. M. Bendock
Today's Quote: "Halloween wraps fear in innocence,/As though it were a slightly sour sweet./Let terror, then, be turned into a treat..." ~ Nicholas Gordon, poemsforfree.com

How nice it is to have a day when the bad-scary of the real world is suspended for the pretend-scary of ghost stories and children in costumes.

This quote says, so much more eloquently than I could, just how delightful this holiday really is.

Remember what it was to be a kid with Halloween looming in the coming week? Remember the careful planning of the most perfect costume, parading it about for every relative within 50 miles?

Remember the ghost stories, oh-so-scary, and the curiosity they brought? Could it be true? Did things such as witches and goblins really haunt the night?

Today's thought is simply to let Halloween's innocence live. Remember the enjoyment you found in it as a kid. Keep that innocent fun alive for the kids who ring your doorbell.

Ah, *stretch*, a life of ease elludes me. I love people, music, reading, writing, football, and nature. I love to debate and can usually see both sides of any topic.  View profile

What a wonderful thought. I hope they don't disban Halloween like some folks want. The kids have always enjoyed it so much and even I like it. It would be a shame. Happy All Hallow's Day!

I love to see the little kids in their costumes. Too bad that it has become so commercial and losing its innocent fun.
