expanded past asteroid belt and zoomed past Jupiter,
would we ever miss home while we reached for the stars,
shouting "yo, dude, what's crackalacking" from every transmitter?
And diving through the rings of far off Saturn
would we hesitate awhile or push on past Uranus?
Or question the use of the carbon fuels we burn
and accept the dark or still require the luminous?
Is there any comfort to be found in the cold of Neptune
that would justify our escape from our home Milky Way
or find a mere pile of rocks on every planetary moon?
When we shoot for the stars is it need or just play?
We've adapted to enough terrains encountered in transit
to prove evolution's statistics but love a necessary gambit.
