Queue for Apple IPhone Started

A line to get to the Apple iPhone has already started last Monday at the Apple Store on Fifth Avenue in Manhattan, according to InfoWorld. Braving temperatures that rose above 90 degrees Fahrenheit, Greg Packer, the person first in line at the Apple Store, was already camped here at 5 a.m. Monday morning. Packer's supplies include water, clothes and a camping chair.

But Packer is not even an Apple fan or a tech geek. According to InfoWorld, Packer is a 43-year old retired highway maintenance worker from Huntington, New York, on Long Island. InfoWorld reports that Packer, although committed to spending five days in the street for the iPhone, is not even computer literate and doesn't own an iPod. "I'm not really a technology person, but I'm doing the best I can to keep up with technology," Packer told InfoWorld.

Packer is not a stranger to camping out for events. The InfoWorld article states that two of Packer's favorite things are music and phone and he has already camped out early for concert tickets and sporting events in the past. Packer wanted to be the first in line to get the gadget that combines two of his favorite things.

"I want to see what it's like," he said. "I want to give my review of it."

On Tuesday, at about 2 p.m., packer was joined by three other people who queued behind him. Fourth in line was Jessica Rodriguez, a Bronx resident who hopes to buy an iPhone for her sister that has a birthday coming up, InfoWorld reports, though she would like to buy two so she could keep one for herself.

Apple store representatives have conflicting answers when asked about how many iPhones can one person buy when it goes on sale on Friday. According to InfoWorld, one representative said there will be a limit, but the store had not been informed of how many could be sold to each user, while another said she "hadn't heard anything" about a limit on the number of iPhones users could buy.

Rodriguez, like Packer seemed unfazed by the 90-degrees plus temperature last Tuesday, InfoWorld reports. "If you go to the beach, it's this hot," she said.

The iPhone will go on sale at 6 p.m. local time across the United States on Friday. According to InfoWorld, all Apple stores will close at 2 p.m. and reopen at 6 p.m. for iPhone sales. Associated Press also reports that besides Apple's retail stores, the iPhone will also be available through some AT&T stores and through Apple's Websites.

Nice job but to me it's just plain crazy...and I love tech.
