Great appetizers for a New Year's Eve party need not be expensive, time consuming, or annoying. After all, the best part of a party is to be able to enjoy it, even if you are the host. Here are some great New Year's Eve party appetizers you can fix year-round.

Fruit Picks - Appetizers for a New Year's Eve party should be colorful, tasty, and a variety of flavors. One of the most well-received party treats is picks with a variety of fruits included. New Year's Eve party appetizers should be easy to eat and small enough that many can be put on a tray for sampling. For banana or apple slices, be sure to soak in lemon juice prior to putting them on the picks. Some hosts of adults-only New Year's Eve Parties recommend soaking some in Crown Royal.

Mini PIB's - One of the best appetizers for a New Year's Eve party is Mini pigs in the blanket. Just take mini smokies sausages and refrigerator croissants cut in half longwise. Wrap the sausages and bake at 350 until golden brown. For most ovens, that's about 13 minutes, but it will vary with what oven you're using. We use a toaster oven and it makes an awesome New Year's eve party appetizer.

Three out of One - This is a great set of appetizers for a New Year's Eve Party. Get a package of two dozen croissants from your local bakery. Cut it into three pieces - a right crook, a left crook, and the middle section. With the middle section, fill with sandwich filling or meat. With the right crook, use a spoon and make a hollowed area and fill with canned apple pie filling. With the left crook, use a spoon and make a hollowed area and fill with canned cherry pie filling. Put each variety on its own tray. On the apple filled treats, spray lightly with spray butter and sprinkle over them a cinnamon and sugar mix. For the cherry, drizzle warm white icing. This is a SUPER fast way to make three types of New Year's Eve Party appetizers. Some folks add cream cheese as well, but this is optional.

Filled Tarts - If you want to make quick tarts, use a biscuit cutter to cut circles from a ready-made flat pie crust like Pillsbury's version. Press the circles down into a muffin tin and flute the edges. Bake until golden brown on 350. It takes around 12 minutes in a toaster oven but your times may vary. Remove tart shells after cooling and fill with your choice of mousse, whipped cream with strawberry slices sticking out of it, or any other favorite pie filling. This is an easy to eat and very beautiful type of New Year's Eve party appetizers.

Favorite Treats - Don't forget the simple types of New Year's Eve party appetizers - brownies, chocolate chip cookies, chips, meat and cheese party trays, and fresh vegetables. Forgetting them as staple New Year's Eve party appetizers, they will be definitely missed.

Fondue - A cheese fondue and a chocolate fondue are both well appreciated and fun centerpieces to any New Year's Eve party appetizers plan. Be sure to include small bowls of spices for the cheese area and powdered sugar, sprinkles, and other great toppings for the chocolate fondue area. Cheese fondue pots are great for some fruits, veggies, chips, and bagel bites or other types of small snack bread or crackers. Chocolate fondue goes great with plain cookies, fruits, and candies. Both are fun ice-melting New Year's eve party appetizers.

Roll Ups and Other Classics - Take sliced lunch meat (budding is my favorite to use), put in a dab of cream cheese. For some folks, add a slice of pickle. It's been a favorite appetizer for a New Year's Eve Party for as long as I can remember, and it's still well loved. You can decorate with picks or roll them tight and enjoy.

Good luck planning the appetizers for a New Year's Party your guests will rave over, and have a safe and happy holiday!
