Ingredients

Serves 8
1 Package (10.75oz.) Frozen Pound Cake (Thawed)
1 Tube Red Cake Decorating Gel
1 Can (16oz.) Vanilla Frosting (Betty Croker tastes great)

Directions for Quick and Easy Candy Cane Cakes

1
Slice
Begin by slicing the pound cake into 8 equal slices (I do not recommend trying to squeeze more than 8 slices out of a single loaf as you will need each slice to have a decent "thickness" to it.)
2
Cut
Cut out the shape of a candy cane in each slice of bread. (This is where a candy cane cookie cutter will come in handy - if you have one of these, press it gently into the bread so that you can see the outline. Then cut around it, like a stencil.)
3
Lay
Lay out the candy cane cakes on a sheet of wax paper. (You will want to leave space between each peice so that they don't stick together in the end.)
4
Heat
Take your vanilla frosting and spoon it into a microwavable measuring cup (or bowl). Heat for 10 seconds at a time until the frosting becomes thin enough to pour. (on average I've found that this takes roughly 45 seconds to 1 minute)
5
Pour
Take the warm frosting and carefully pour it over each candy cane cake. Cover the top and sides completely.
6
Wait
Wait about 10-15 minutes until the frosting is completely cool.
7
Decorate
Use your red decorating gel to make the red candy cane stripes on each peice. Let the gel sit for about 10 more mins. and enjoy!
Tip
Use a candy cane shaped cookie cutter to make this project much easier and with better results.
