Granola Bars are a tasty snack to keep on hand.I like to make these up to keep handy in the cookie jar. They are delicious and the whole family loves them, even the kids. Not only are these delicious, but they are also fast and easy to make. I think this is one of the best recipes to have around when you want to make sure you have healthy snacks in the house for your family. Trust me, your family will think so too.
Ingredients:
3 cups quick oats
1 (14 ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
2 tablespoons melted butter
1 cup sliced almonds or walnuts
1 cup miniature semisweet chocolate chips
1 cup flaked coconut
1/2 cup sweetened dried cranberries or raisins
( You can add M&Ms for the kids. They'll love it.)
Method:
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a 9x13 inch pan
2. In a large bowl, mix together the oats, sweetened condensed milk, butter, coconut, almonds, chocolate chips and cranberries with your hands until well blended. Press into the pan.
3. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes in the preheated oven Lightly browned just around the edges will give you moist, chewy bars. Let cool for 5 minutes, cut into squares.
4. Let cool for another twenty minutes and Put into l gallon zip-lock bag and place into the cookie jar.
Now you have a tasty snack that is good and healthy for you.
You may want to double this recipe because these will disappear fast.
This recipe can also be crumbled up to make traditional granola if you like. It tastes great as a topping for cereal or fruit in the morning.
You can always add apples or other fruits for a little variety and a change of taste.
