Quick & Easy Halloween Costume: M&M Sweatshirt

Great Costume Option for Expectant Moms or Those Who Hate Dressing Up!

Mary Ward
Need a Halloween costume idea that is quick, cheap and practically not a costume at all? One that can be used as part of a group or on it's lonesome, that you can wear over and over every year? A great maternity costume for those of you carrying that extra little peanut this year? This is it!

You don't need much; here's What You Do Need:
Oversized sweatshirt in an M&M color
Black & White fabric paint
Paint brush
Large googly eyes and fabric glue (totally optional)

You don't need talent. Here's What You Have To Do:

Wash the sweatshirt if the fabric paint directions tell you to (unless you don't plan to keep the shirt for future use, then it won't matter much).

Think about it, and if you need to for the sake of symmetry, make a quick pattern out of heavy paper or thin cardboard.

Near the top of the shirt, use a bottle of black paint with a pointed tip to draw eyes. Fill in with white.

Below, paint a big white 'M'. This is where a template is really handy. Outline the edge if you like.

When dry, use fabric glue to add googly eyes if you're using them, or paint pupils with the black paint.
Let dry.

*TIP Put a large piece of cardboard or a newspaper inside the sweatshirt so the paint doesn't run through to the other side.

Trick or Treat:
That's it! Throw it on aver a T-shirt or turtleneck, and hit the streets for sweets! For a whole group thing, have each person pick a different color. Shirts can be washed and worn over and over if you follow the care directions provided by the fabric paint manufacturer.

Happy Halloween!

Thanks, for this simple costum idea. I might do this for my 13-month old son so he can be dressed up when we open the door for trick-or-treaters.
