Quick and Easy Halloween Party Decorating Ideas

Three Inexpensive Ways to Liven Up Your Halloween Party Decor

Tara Van Ness
Decorating for Halloween parties can get expensive and time consuming if you buy your decorations at a party supply store. Often, seasonal Halloween stores that pop up in your local strip mall will charge more than you're willing to pay to decorate for one day of the year. Here are three simple and deliciously spooky (but not too spooky!) Halloween party decor ideas that won't cost an arm and a leg or use valuable time!

Huge Tarantulas

What's scarier than a bunch of giant spiders all over your house? It's no surprise why so many people suffer from arachnophobia, or the fear of spiders. These easy, cheap spider decorations are so simple to put together. All you need are black balloons and black crepe paper, found at any dollar store. Simply blow up balloons, then hang individual balloons, small part down, where you want your scary black spiders. Then, tape eight pieces of crepe paper all the same length behind the body of the black spider decoration and spread the black legs out, four on each side.

Glowing Ghosts

Ghosts, goblins, and scary haunts are notorious with Halloween. These inexpensive ghost decorations are simple to create but make a big impression. All you need are white balloons, a black marker, and a pack of glow bracelets. The glow bracelets, which are similar to glow sticks except slimmer, retail for $1 for a pack of five at most dollar stores. Simply blow up the balloon, and slide one glow bracelet inside before you tie the balloon. Make sure the bracelet is glowing first! Then, with a black marker, draw large black misshapen circles -- two for eyes, one for a groaning ghost mouth. These spooky ghost decorations will glow for up to eight hours.

Vampire mini-Pumpkins

A new twist on pumpkin carving with an impressive vampire effect. All you need are mini-pumpkins and plastic vampire teeth, as well as something to carve the pumpkins with. Draw or carve eyes (and a nose if you like) on mini pumpkins. Then, hollow out a hole approximately the size of the plastic vampire teeth. It doesn't have to be precise, but should be close in order to fit the teeth through snugly. Place your vampire pumpkins all over the buffet table or other visible surfaces for instant pumpkin Halloween decor that wows!

Most of the supplies for these three easy Halloween decor ideas can be found at dollar stores or your local discount store. Have a spooktacular Halloween!
