Quick and Easy Looks for Curly Hair

Tiffany Bell
Curly hair can be so beautiful, but it does take more maintenance than straight hair. If you know what your hair is capable of, there are some quick and easy looks that you can do with curly hair.

Enhance Your Curls

A quick and easy look for curly hair is to simply enhance the curls that you already have. Add some curl enhancer or gel to your damp hair. Scrunch your hair slightly in your hands to enhance the curl. Allow your hair to air dry instead of blow-drying. Make sure to not touch it that much as the more you touch the less curly it will be and the more frizzy it may get. You also may want to use an anti-frizz product on your hair. Part your hair whatever way you want and this is a quick and easy wash and wear style for curly hair.

Chignon

A chignon is basically a fancy name for a bun. Put some mousse into your hair, working it all over the strands. Pull your hair back so that it is anywhere from 3 inches above the neck to sitting on the actual neck. Take the ponytail and you can secure it with an elastic hair tie or you can choose to not secure it at this step. Coil your hair around in a circle clockwise completing at least one turn around the ponytail. If you have longer hair you may be able to do more turns. Tuck the end of the hair under the chignon and secure it in place with bobby pins. Use any bobby pins to secure the sides of your hair back or any ends that may have fallen out of the chignon. You can also choose to do a messier chignon and let the ends fall out of the bun. You can have a part in the front or you can have your hair pulled straight back, as that is up to you and what looks best with your curly hair.

Pinned Back Up-Do

This may sound complicated but if you have naturally curly hair is quite simple and will look really put together. Simply take your hair and pin it to the back of your head with bobby pins. You can gather it into a ponytail and then pin it or you can just take sections and pin it back. The curls in your hair will hide the bobby pins and it's okay if it looks a little sloppy as this is the style. Just make sure that the front is sleek and not bumpy. If you want you can even add a headband to your head to hide even more of your bobby pins or to tame some of your curly hair.

I fight with my curly hair everyday. I would love to cut it off but then I'd look like orphan Annie. Great tips!

Alas, my long curly hair is losing some of its curl the more gray comes in! I hate putting stuff in my hair, but it looks like gel will be on my shopping list now.
