Quick Easy Styles for Long Hair

Pat Lunsford
Hair combs are an absolute necessity when it comes to long hair. Simply part the hair down behind the ear, hold and brush the strand up and back then insert the hair comb. You can do this on just one side, giving you a sultry look or both sides, which can actually take years off your appearance.

If the hair comb is not inserted properly it will not stay in place. With the curved side up, push the comb up then turn the curved side down and push it into place. This locks the comb in until you remove it.

Pulling the hair back at the top is a popular style and it's relatively quick and easy. Simply brush all of the hair in front to the crown of your head like a ponytail then tie with a hair tie or a clip. If you have bangs then style them as usual. This is such a cute style, especially when you add bows, ribbons or colorful hair ties.

A very cute style for long hair is to cut the top short.T here are several different ways of doing this but if you're not good at cutting your own hair, have it done in a salon. It's basically just a matter of parting the hair along the top sides of your head then parting it across about midway between the bangs and crown. Pull the section up between your fingers about 11/2 inches and cut straight across.

This will give you a little peak in front which you can shape with a curling iron then a spritz of hairspray will hold it in place. Ideally, your bangs should be just a little longer than your peak cut.

Never use a rubber band to tie your hair. Rubber bands twist and pull the hair causing a lot of damage. Old combs with jagged edges can also damage hair by tearing and splitting it. When your comb starts getting jagged edges, replace it.

Your hair doesn't have to be long all over. A very popular long hairstyle today is short in the front and long in the back. This style is very easy to manage but you may want to have a salon make the cut for you. Then you simply style the front and brush out the back. What could be easier?

Long hair can be very attractive but if your hair is not treated properly, the only way you'll be able to go out into public without looking like the bride of Frankenstein is to where it up or pulled back.

Choosing the right shampoo and conditioner is very important if you want your long hairstyle to look its best. To determine the right products for your hair you must find out what type of hair you have.

If your hair frizzes easily and your scalp tends to itch, likely as not, you have dry hair. A good dandruff shampoo and conditioner may be your best choice as it can help sooth your dry scalp and give you healthier hair.

Hair that feels nice and clean after shampooing yet begins to go limp and listless after only a few hours is considered oily. There are a number of hair products specifically designed for oily hair. While the most expensive may not necessarily be the best, the least expensive may be lacking. Therefore, choose products that are closer to the middle price range.

The same is true for normal hair. Those with normal hair should choose hair products that are priced in the middle range as most of them carry the same basic ingredients.

Finally, once you've conditioned your long hair, there are several ways to style it. Unlike short hair, having long hair enables you to have a different style every day!

My hair looks and feels best when it is shoulder length and then I simply put a small claw clip up in the back on the top with a lil' poof. Thanks for the tips.
