1) Curl it: Shorter hair will take significantly less time to curl than longer hair, even if your hair is very thick. Use a thin curling iron (you won't want a very thick barrel for short hair) to work in random curls around your head and neck and sprits lightly with hairspray. You shouldn't have to worry about curling every strand (unless this is the look you're going for) if you just want to have a more natural and fun wavy/curly look for the day. Additionally, even if your hair doesn't hold curl too well, the curling plus hairspray should still work in a little bit of volume into your hair after the curls fall out-a look that still looks great with shorter hair.
2) Headbands: Take advantage of all the cute headbands, clips, and other hair accessories that are in style this season. Flower headbands look great with your short locks, as they add a fun element to your head. Check out stores like Claire's, Forever 21, or Target to find plenty of cute hair accessories. One of the great things about having short hair and throwing on a headband is that will be pretty much all you have to do to "fix" your hair that day; with longer hair, you'd still have to do something else with your hair on top of the accessories.
3) Pin it up: Go for a completely classy look this season. Even if you can't throw up your hair into a traditional ponytail, you can still use hair pins/bobby pins to get it off or your neck. For a classic style, start with twisting your hair away from your face (close to the bottom of your head) and pin it all up into place. Since your hair probably won't be long enough to use any ponytails to secure this look all together, you'll have to use plenty of bobby pins to keep this look in place.
