Of course, making a batch of fried potatoes is quite simple. All you have to do is rinse off the potatoes, cut them up either in slices, strips, or cubes, and throw them in a hot pan. Add some butter or vegetable oil to prevent burning, and cook until done. But there are a lot of things you can do to spruce up this simple dish, without adding a bunch of extra steps or complications.
For starters, try adding in some freshly cut onions, and maybe even some green peppers or red peppers as well. You may want to let the potatoes cook for a little bit on their own before adding in the extra ingredients, but onions and peppers make a great addition to your fried potato dish. For a little extra bite, melt some cheese over the top of your potatoes before taking them out of the pan - everyone will thank you when the meal is over!
For those who like spicy foods, try throwing in a few squirts of your favorite hot sauce while your potatoes are cooking. You can also add garlic salt, or even a clove of fresh garlic to give it an extra bite, too.
There are a lot of other foods you can add into your fried potatoes dish, as well. For breakfast, nothing hits the spot more than large plate of fried potatoes, eggs and sausage. For lunch, a cold sandwich and side of fried potatoes makes for a quick and filling bite to eat, and dinner holds a wealth of possibilities when it comes to fried potatoes. You can of course cook them up as normal and use them for a side dish to compliment your dinner, or you can even create a full meal out of the potatoes. Throw in some cut up pork chops, steak or polish sausage and you'll have a meal that is more than capable of feeding a family of four.
As you can see, there are many different cooking options when it comes to fried potatoes - these are just a few of the recipe ideas. And no matter how you prepare them, the entire family is sure to love a plate full of fried potatoes.
