Pre-Made Satin Lingerie Hangers
Purchase pre-made satin lingerie hangers in sets of 6 or more, to decorate and turn into gift sets of 2 or 3 hangers each. I have even found these beautifully constructed hanger sets in sales bins ranging in price from $1.00 to $3.00. Broken into smaller gift sets, your elegantly decorated lingerie hanger gift sets end up costing anywhere from half a dollar to $1.50 each per set of 2 or 3 hangers.
Ribbons and Flowers
If you sew or craft, you probably have many beautiful ribbon remnants which are too short or too thin to use, but those ribbon remnants are perfect for this project. Likewise, small silk flowers which have fallen off (or have been pulled off) of your large floral arrangements, and saved, are needed as well.
You could also purchase ribbon remnants and silk flower accessories from your local craft or fabric stores. Select thin ribbons, and small seasonal silk flowers, such as miniature poinsettias for Christmas, rosebuds for bridal showers, or small daisies for birthday gifts.
Tying Up Mini-Bouquets
You can approach this quick-gift craft in one of two ways. Either tie small ribbon bows around one or two silk flowers, creating a mini bouquet to hot-glue directly onto the intersection of the closet hook, at the hanger base; or tie the flowers at the same intersecting point, by crisscross-wrapping ribbons around the flowers, to hold them in place.
I have tried both ways, and either way works fine. I have to say I prefer the look of crisscross tying the ribbon around the flowers, and then onto the base of the hook. Using a dot of glue from the hot-glue gun will ensure flowers stay in place with use. You could also use a drop of craft glue, or even a glue-dot, to hold flowers in place.
Gift Wrapping
Your newly decorated gift lingerie-hanger set is an extremely awkward size to wrap, but will fit perfectly into most standard-sized flat, clothing gift boxes. Spread several layers of tissue paper, lining the box bottom, and then fanning out the hangers, one over the other (without disrupting the decorative floras).
Pad the box with several more layers of tissue over the top of the hangers (to keep securely in place). Fit the box lid over, gift-wrapping it as you normally would to fit the occasion.
