Quick Gold for High Level Characters in World of Warcraft

When you get to a higher level in World of Warcraft, sometimes you just need some quick gold for training or maybe to get a good repair in before your next raid. Often, when someone gets to a high level regardless of the character in World of Warcraft, they tend to stay in certain areas and don't really go down to other areas unless there is some reason (such as powerleveling a friend, etc). My best tactic when trying to get quick gold is generally done using the Skinning or Herbalism class but generally Skinning will work better for this type of strategy. We will take the time to go into each of these professions and their use separately as they are relatively mutually exclusive. For the purposes of this guide, we will assume that the character is a moderately high level (so around a 50 or so):

Skinning: Since the skinning class is not about gaining XP and is also not about getting items, all you need to do is to move around a lower level place with lots of things that you can skin and collect either medium or heavy leather until you have enough to sell at the Auction House. World of Warcraft is an interesting game as there are many ways that you can 'work' in order to make money and this is one of the fastest ones because a stack of medium leather from a place like Darkshire (that a lvl 50 can pick up in maybe 15 minutes) is worth about 10 gold on a weekend and maybe 7 gold on a weekday, so it will absolutely give you upwards of 25 gold per hour of work after a quick trip to the WoW Auction House.
Herbalism: This is a very different skill because it doesn't really rely on killing things as much as just searching. Because of this, many people won't go and pick up herbs in low level places because they are hard to find and often have many different issues associated with them (extremely aggressive mobs around the best places, etc). Since many people at higher levels refuse to go 'herb hunting', the prices for herbs are often very high (medium level stacks of herbs can go for around 20 gold and can be found in half an hour with a good mount).

You should never sit around and think that you don't have enough gold to afford the newest and best things (equipment, skills, etc) because with a little 'work' you can scare up at least 40 gold just by visiting low level places with good primary professions in World of Warcraft.
