Quick Hair Drying Tips for Sleek, Styled Locks

Monica Bullock

When it comes to hair drying, the hottest solutions are not always the best, but time isn't always on your side. If you want a sleek look, quickly, take control right from the start. Taming wild hairs once they've been blown and fluffed is impossible, but there's nothing wrong with a tousled, flamboyant style. However, you can also get a smooth style in a minimum amount of time.

Comb Wet Hair

After shampooing and conditioning, wring the excess water from your hair. Finish the hair treatment with a cold-water rinse--this closes your hair cuticles and will also make hair super shiny. With a wide-toothed comb, pull out the snags starting at the tips. For the best but least painful results, use short strokes.

Microfiber Towels

It is habit to rub your hair dry with a towel but that's not the fastest method for drying. Rubbing your hair dry with bath towels may even mat your hair and cause more damage than you think. Invest a few dollars in microfiber towels. Squeeze water from the hair using these thirsty towels to get hair dry faster. Microfiber towels launder easily, just like regular towels.

How to Dry

Before you flip the switch on the dryer, protect the tips with hair protector. This product gives shine and strength. It's tempting to flip your hair upside down and blow dry the hair on maximum. That's no way to get control. Instead, divide hair into sections, two on each side of the head, the top and at the back of the head. Brush the hair with a paddle brush while drying to control those crazy flyaways.

Cold Finish

Flip the dryer to cool instead of heat. Blast hair with a shot of cold air. This cold finish blast seals in shine by closing the hair follicle. Spray your paddle brush with finishing spray then smooth your hair into the style you want. Finish with one last blast of cool air.
