Quick Halloween Costume Ideas Using Your Kids Pajamas!
From Rock Star to a Scary Shark to Scooby-Doo!
Step 1: Scour your child's pajamas for costume ideas.
Kid pajamas come with a cute array of prints and patterns. Looking at the average closet, you might find pajamas that have an animal theme like frogs, a tiger, or fish, or cartoon themes like Winnie the Pooh, Family Guy, or Strawberry Shortcake. Other pajamas are covered in rock star guitars, Hanna Montana pics, or Scooby Doo images. Do not despair if your child only has plain pajamas in primary colors. Plain pajamas make great costume bases for animals, robots, and other fun Halloween characters. Fun pajama leggings that have stripes or spots can also be used for anything from pirate to clown costumes.
Step 2: Decide which pair of pajamas you will use for the Halloween costume
You want to choose a pair of pajamas that will be warm enough for the cool fall air. Also, you probably will want to use a pair that are not brand new (unless you bought a pair for Halloween specifically). Patch up any holes that the pj's may have.
Stop 3: Accessorize
Now it is time to use your creativity to create some convincing accessories to the costume. If you have a small budget, you can opt to use hypoallergenic makeup from your bathroom, makeup and masks from the dollar store, and props from your house and neighborhood thrift shop. Cardboard, sewing skills, and drawing skills, can also come in handy.

Alien Costume
Does your child want to dress up like an alien? A green pair of pajamas, an alien mask or makeup, and some sort of silly ray gun (maybe made from a used hairdryer) can complete the look. If you want to go the extra mile, then you can make a wearable UFO with cardboard and have your child wear it with suspender like straps attached to the spaceship.
Animal Costume
Choose the pj's that fit your animal idea best. For example, a cheetah costume can use yellow pj's with spots or a shark costume can be made with a gray set of pj's. Use face paint to make the look more convincing. Footwear that add to the costume can include black sneakers for a bear's dark paws or orange sneakers for a duck's webbed feet. Use cardboard or your sewing skills to add ears, wings, and other accessories.
Rock Star
Use a pair of pj's that have musical instruments like guitars and drums printed on them or pictures of your child's favorite rock star like Hannah Montana. Accessorize with a small guitar, keyboard, or microphone. If you want, add zany jewelry, a belt, crazy shoes, and even a brightly colored wig. Sparkly face paint and makeup can add star quality to the Halloween costume.
