The Vindaloo Sauce of Maya Kaimal mixed with yogurt at a fifty-fifty percentage would be a great dip for crackers, veggies and many types of bread. Vindaloo is a curry mixture made hot and sour mixed with black pepper and coriander from India. Though popular in India since ancient times, it has entered American mainstream food consciousness through the work of award winning cook book author Maya Kaimal. Her food concoctions in the books "Curried Favors" and "Savoring the Spice Coast of India" has made her a leading authority in Indian cuisine. She has appeared in many American TV shows such as Martha Stewart, the Today show and other Food Network presentations.
Pesto mixed with Basil and Sun dried Tomatoes and goat cheese are great looking appetizers for the palate. The company Stonewall Kitchen has introduced a new line of food products along the lines of its creators Jim's and Jon's personal favorite dishes. This product blended to its quality perfection from a host of wonderful ingredients which can be added unto other dishes such as pastas and pizzas. It can also be eaten with cheese or with a bowl of couscous. Stonewall Kitchens have been known to provide high quality food products consistently and remain in the forefront of food development in the United States.
If near a grocer, one can get a Brie wedge and a batch of gourmet olives with baguettes or crackers and precut vegetable sticks. One can use a store bought bottle of Ranch dressing but Vindaloo or Pesto would make the dip a bit more chic. Or another option would be cheddar cheese balls with jarred salsa and chips, or crackers and pre cut vegetable sticks. Sprinkle them with ripe olives, assorted nuts and apple wedges for a casual setting. Another choice is a selection of hard and soft cheeses with sliced fruits or grapes for an impromptu cheese tasting party.
Quiches from the frozen foods section, with an assortment of strawberries, kiwi and star fruit, or slices of canapés garnished with deli meats are also a good choice for quick to prepare party food. Include shrimp with cocktail sauce and lemon wedges to add class to a small gathering.
