Quick and Simple Dip Recipes

Sam Skipper
Here are some quick and simple recipes for dips that can be easily fixed up for both simple tailgates and picnics to holiday buffets. Serve the dips with fresh cut up vegetables, with slices of toasted bread, corn or potato chips, or toasted bagel or pita bread strips or wedges.

Each dip can be customized with favorite spices and flavorings. For example if a garlicky dip is wanted, add in some garlic powder or press in fresh whole cloves of garlic using a garlic press.

It is a must to keep all dips containing protein items, such as mayonnaise or cream cheese, at a proper temperature. Always keep in the refrigerator until serving time, and keep cold when serving outside, like on ice.

Sour Cream Curry Dip

1/2 cup regular mayonnaise
1/4 cup sour cream
1 tsp to 2 Tbsp curry powder, to taste
1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp A-1 Steak Sauce
1/4 tsp Tabasco Sauce
1/4 tsp lemon juice

Mix the regular mayonnaise and the sour cream together. Add in the Worcestershire sauce, the A-1 Steak sauce and the Tabasco sauce. Add in the lemon juice. Stir in the curry powder a little bit at a time until the desired flavor has been reached.

Transfer to a container with a tight fitting lid and keep cold until ready to use.

Onion and Dill Dip

2/3 cup regular mayonnaise
2/3 cup sour cream
1 whole green onion, thinly sliced (white and green part)
1 Tbsp finely chopped fresh parsley
1 Tbsp finely chopped fresh dill

Mix the regular mayonnaise and the sour cream together. Add the thinly sliced green onion and the chopped fresh parsley and fresh dill. Stir until the mixture is combined.

Transfer to a container with a tight fitting lid and keep cold until ready to use.

Minced Clam and Cream Cheese Dip

8 oz. softened cream cheese
1 small can of minced clams, keep the liquid
2 Tbsp grated yellow onion
1/2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
1/4 tsp celery salt
1/8 tsp white pepper

Cream the cream cheese in a small mixing bowl. Add in the drained clams (keep the liquid for later in the recipe). Stir in the grated yellow onion, the Worcestershire sauce, celery salt and white pepper. Take about 1 to 2 Tbsp of the reserved clam canning liquid and mix into the dip until desired flavor and consistency has been reached.

Transfer to a container with a tight fitting lid and keep cold until ready to use.
