Quick, Tasty and Healthy Fall Chili Recipe

Stephanie Long
It's that time of year again. The weather is starting to cool and football season is well on its way. One of the things that I look forward to during this time of year is all of the tasty food that is designed to make you feel good and keep you warm.

This recipe is one that my family loves. I have to make it in two batches because some of them like it hot and spicy and some of them don't. You will need the following ingredients:

1 lb ground beef

1 onion chopped

2 Tbl minced garlic

1 can pinto or kidney beans

1 can chili beans

1 large can diced tomatoes

1 large can tomato sauce

1-2 cups water or beef stock

1 tsp chili powder

1/8 tsp cinnamon

2 dashes hot sauce

Salt and pepper to taste

You will need a large stock pot. Spray the pot with non-stick spray and then brown the meat with the garlic and onion. Once the onion is tender, add all of the other ingredients to the pot and mix it all together. Cover and cook for 30-45 minutes.

Serve with corn bread or crackers and keep plenty of sour cream, chopped onions, fresh cilantro, hot sauce and cheddar cheese around for toppers to this fabulous chili recipe.

To make this recipe healthier, use the leanest ground beef you can find or use ground turkey or chicken. If you use the beef stock, use low sodium/low fat stock. The same goes for all of the toppings. Using low fat/low sodium ingredients will make this recipe even better and healthy for you and your family.

I hope you and your family enjoy this recipe and make it over and over again!
