Quick Tips to Fight H1N1

Easy Things to Keep Yourself Healthy

It's the fall season and unfortunately it means cooler weather and more contact with other people. It's October and your children are back in the swing of school or your college student is out without your care meeting new people and sharing beverages. Soccer and football and cheerleading are starting or under way already and everyone is in contact with common objects. People need to be aware of everything around them and more importantly be aware of what they touch and who they are around. There are some quick hints you can use to help protect you and your family.

1. Wash your hands with bar soap. It's a simple enough tip but not enough people follow it. Every time you use the restroom or touch food or touch anything for that matter, you should go wash your hands. The use of a bar of soap is better than the anti-bacterial liquid soap, personally I use Dove.

2. Carry around Purell. Another easy tip and these small bottles fit anywhere you like, even in your pocket. Most of the times when you're out you can't get to a restroom to wash your hands, this is a great alternative and some actually double as a moisturizer.

3. Tissues. Not only do we use these for coughing and sneezing and our runny noses, but they also double as a quick napkin. Use them whenever you can and help protect yourself and others, also be courteous and share them!

4. Get outside! Get as much sunshine as you can before our days get so short you actually can't remember what the sun looks like. Exercise and run outside instead of the gym.

5. Buy some multivitamins. The more vitamins you have the better, try Centrum or any other brand you choose and keep your immune system up to help fight off not only H1N1 but all kinds of seasonal colds.

6. Eat and Drink Healthier! It sounds simple but the majority of people don't do it. Stay away from the fats and carbs and eat more vegetables and more fruits. Drink about 2 bottles of water a day as well. Try some fresh tomatoes and mozzarella for lunch and have a glass of red wine at dinner.

7. If you're sick, stay in bed. The chances of you passing on the disease you have is very probable if you're out and about. If you're sick stay in bed and resort to soup and water and bread. Gatorade is my cure all.
