Quick Tips for a Perfect Holiday Shoe

Lori Piper
Okay, so you have the perfect holiday dress and the perfect holiday accessories... but what about the perfect holiday shoes? Maybe you already own a pair but the perfect shoes are not quite the perfect fit. Here are some tips to make those shoes fit and feel better than Cinderella's!

Quick tips to make the shoe fit- friction is not optional in perfect shoe wear

The perfect way to prevent friction is by applying a nifty blister block product. My personal choice is Band- Aid's Blister Block Stick. I have applied it all over my feet where the shoes fit less than perfect... and you know I did not mind that the shoes were from last year. They fit great, look great, and no blisters.

Quick tips to make the shoe fit- in a pinch?

If those top of the line pointy shoes are not quite as comfortable as you were lead to believe because your toes are pinching together; opt for a gel separator. These handy little helpers keep toes from overlapping and becoming one giant toe by the end of the evening.

Quick tips to make the shoe fit- cobbler is not just for eating

If you find yourself unwilling to wear your favorite pair of perfect holiday shoes due to that fact that you had a minor slip last year- from slippery soles. No need to fret or purchase a new pair of shoes (unless you really want to, that is!): take your shoes to a cobbler and have them resoled with a textured rubber. No more falls, or slips.

Quick tips to make the shoe fit- stiff backs are not always a sign of good posture

Some perfect shoes can retain a stiff back that cuts into our heels, making our perfect shoes not so perfect at all. Try a heel liner, a cushion that thwarts shoes from digging into our heels.

Quick tips to make the shoe fit- falling down on the job

If your absolute favorite pair of sling backs keep sliding down- well, now that is just not attractive and we expect more from our most perfect pair of shoes, do we not? Attach self adhesive moleskin strips inside the sling backs... that will make those sling backs stay put and once again be perfect.

Quick tips to make the shoe fit- these boots are made for walking?

Okay, not necessarily boots, but do you have a pair of shoes where you keep stepping out of the heel? Ask a cobbler... you should known one by now... to steam only the heel quadrant of your shoe. The steaming will shrink the leather thereby providing you with a snugger fit. Now these perfect shoes are made for walking, dancing... romancing.

Quick tips to make the shoe fit- from comfortable to dazzling

Have a favorite pair of flats that would be perfect for a holiday function... if only they had some pizzazz? Go ahead and dress up those flats with a shoe clip. You can go online and look for some glamorous shoe clips at www.absolutelyaudrey.com

Quick tips to make the shoe fit- toothbrushes brush more than teeth

Do you own a pair of fabric shoes that have seen better days? Keep the fabric looking new by gently brushing away dirt and dust with a soft bristled toothbrush.

However, if you want to go purchase a new pair of shoes regardless that these tips can help... go for it... there is no such thing as too many shoes.

Great ideas - I have bad feet (: In spite of just about everything you suggested I still could only wear my shoes (which started out to be comfortable) for a couple of hours for my daughter's wedding.

Wonder tips and I didn't know about some of these wonderful inventions. Then again I don't live in heels as I used to.
