Quickly Prepare for Last Minute Surprise Christmas Guests

Five Helps to Assure You'll Be Ready for Uninvited Guests

JUNEANN REED
Surprise guests at anytime should be ready to take what comes their way. However, you CAN easily be ready and have a great time too!

First of all, clean the bathrooms, change sheets if needed and pick up as you go along. You won't have time to deep clean - nor do you need to do that. While you're cleaning, mentally be making your food - and any gifts needed - list.

Plan for them staying a bit longer than what they said. Will you be staying in all the time - or what activities could you take in? This will make a difference in your food list.

Food basics you could purchase:

Bread - a couple different choices
Milk
Butter/jam
Yum-looking breakfast bakery
Flavored coffee - or flavor your own
Salad ingredients
Spaghetti
Spaghetti sauce
Chips
Dips
Fruit
Cheeses
Beer/wine or liquor - if needed
Hamburger
Frozen Shrimp - if it's in your budget - and sauce
Roasted chicken
Veggies - already cleaned
Any quick gifts - could be food, wine, candy, nuts, sweatshirts - whatever your grocery store has...
Bags to "wrap" them
Apple juice - cinnamon sticks

Quickly put things away, but make up veggie tray, fruit and cheese tray.
Light candles - they will make your house smell ready for guests

Relax:
Apple juice with cinnamon sticks makes a simple apple cider - smells and tastes great!
"Wrap" your gifts

When guests arrive most likely they'll want to chat and maybe have a snack. This works well with your plan.
For meals you could serve spaghetti - and make your table festive by grabbing a couple decorations from the tree or your shelf. Salad and bread with that relaxing coffee are all you need.

Another meal could be the chicken sliced thinly - served with the salad - or in the salad.

Many of us have Christmas treats that have been given us - or perhaps guests will bring some. Serve those on a pretty plate for a quick dessert.

Believe me - in less than two hours you can be ready!

Yes, it will be simple - but a time treasured and remembered. Sometimes those little surprises are the best!
