Quit Smoking Cold Turkey

My Experience with Chantix

You finally agreed that this is the path to take. After so many years of smoking, whether your kids are taking on the impact, or you just lost a bet with that goofball at work, you are going to try to quit smoking cold turkey. But why cold turkey? With all the different remedies and medicines to help, why do you think you can do this alone?

First, let me explain to you why I would rather try quitting cold turkey. In the middle of 2008, my ex-fiance decided that she wanted to try to quit smoking, so she decided to go to a clinic and try a new experimental drug, called CHANTIX. Chantix looked like a good idea at the time, but on it's warning label, CHANTIX writes, "If you have any mental conditions, CHANTIX is not for you", or something similar to that, you know what I mean. My Ex didn't feel that anxiety was an issue, and since i have lived with her for at least four years, I watched her communication factor, as well as her sensibility crack. She totally changed into someone i never met before, and as of january 2009, I no longer associate with her, even physically, due to her ongoing behavior patterns.

That's right, I can't even bee seen by her. her medication to CHANTIX has knocked all since of reality out of her, so you can now imagine why i do not want to try ANY type of medication, the 5 year-old already lost a mother, she don't need to lose her father too!

THE FIRST 24 HOURS

Putting out my last cigarette at 7:00, I decided to listen to my body very close for the next sign that i might be craving the next cigarette. It didn't take long, about ten minutes tops. One of the first signs I also notice about recovery from smoking, Is that your taste buds are still satisfied with the last cigarette. the burning sensation that I get from my stomach was back also, (which is the second reason I quit). I came to the conclusion that the first step when quitting smoking is to REPLACE the cigarette with something else. Water is a good source, but since I wanted to pack on some extra pounds, (which Is the third and final reson why I wanted to quit), my fitrst reaction was to eat a banana.

Up into 11:00, I heard my brain at least 10 times reminding myself that i needed nicotine. Drinking coffee helped, but this tip could harm more than it could help, so I wouldn't recommend it to no one but me. Acting like I actually had a cigarette in my hand and going through the motion of smoking a cigarette helped also, since i know that a small part of the addiction comes from fiddling around with the cigarette itself. On through the night, i would wake up, but the craving would be small, until...

the morning came and it was time for my morning cigarette. This was the cigarette I usually smoked before I even have my eyes open. The "secondary response reaction", the harder of the two withdraw symptoms, is quite possibly the hardest to win between the two. I spent the next twelve hours, feeling like i was just, "looking outside the box, in" to quitting. A "Zombie" type experience overcame me and terror was setting itself in. I smoked for 28 years, rarely missing a cigarette break with the guys, or at least clearing out a pack a day. The easiest way to overcome emotions and dispositions like this? Begat your mind into Trivial and
