Quit Smoking and Start Over Again

Jason Ward
For some smoking started when they were kids, maybe because they thought it looked cool or all of their friends were doing it, others started when they got older and started getting over-worked and stressed out, whatever the reason may be it is a fact that smoking is not a healthy addiction and it has been known to kill millions of people worldwide. Not only that, but the amount some people smoke flushes thousands of their hard earned money down the toilet every year.

I myself used to be a smoker and I told myself that of course I could give it up whenever I wanted if it posed to be a health problem or for some other reason I had to stop, but when I started changing my life and decided to live more healthier I knew that cigarettes had to go, as I started exercising and running I noticed I had a lot less power and lung space to give me higher endurance and so that is why I went on an all out cigarette fast, it was hard.

Nicotine patches helped me quite a bit, but it is different for everyone of course. Some people even go as far as getting hypnotized, but I am not sure if that one works or not.

Something that helped me was to get my mind off of them by watching movies, I would sit and watch movie after movie whenever I felt like having a smoke, and would just pop a mint here and there. Sitting in buses and trains and other places where smoking isn't allowed was another thing I did and it helped quite a bit in curbing the addiction.

When I was finally free of it I felt a lot better physically and mentally and it made a big difference in my exercise and eating habits. I still do an occasional cigarette or two for social gatherings or with friends but I've never gone back to buying my own.

Determination is a key factor in quitting smoking as there are times when your body will be aching for a smoke, but if you fight through you will overcome.

Smoking kills, so quite while your ahead.
