Defined on their website as believers who trust in the Lord for family size, and to answer the questions of those seeking truth in this critical area of marriage. The term of QuiverFull seems to be based on the passage found in Psalm 127:3-5 in the Bible. The King James Version states: Lo, children are a heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward. As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are children of the youth. Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them: they shall not be ashamed, but they shall speak with the enemies in the gate.
These Christian couples eagerly accept that children are a blessing from God and do not use any form of birth control, natural family planning, or sterilization. The reference on the site points to a book by Rick and Jan Hess named A Full Quiver. My first thought was that this was something new and that a new book had been published, but this book was published back in 1990, so the movement has been around for a while. There are many other resources listed on their website, so be sure to check it out if you are interested.
I know a lot of families that have many children and wonder if this is what they believe in because I have neglected to ask as this seems quite personal. I knew that some people chose to forego birth control, but I didn't realize that there is an entire Christian group out there devoted to this almost like a separate denomination.
I too believe that children are a blessing from God and I am thankful for mine. I chose to be on birth control though and just believed that my God is an awesome God, and he could power through my birth control and bless me with another child if that was his will. Maybe that is ignorance on my part, but I have been blessed with two beautiful children and I am truly thankful.
