Quiznos Experience Very Disappointing

With all the excitement about Quiznos subs coming to our area, I couldn't wait to try them. The opening day finally arrived at the first of two shops being built in our area. After driving by and seeing the line extending out the door the first few days, I waited patiently until the line was more manageable and I could get in and out in the time I had for lunch.

Waiting in line for about ten minutes or so gave me ample time to explore the menu options and decide on my choice for lunch. Though the prices seemed a little high, I thought it must be worth it because their advertising convincingly portrayed mouth-watering subs. When it was my turn, I gave my order to a very pleasant young lady behind the counter. My choice was a large Mesquite Chicken sub on a wheat roll without bacon and with the Ranch dressing on the side, to go. Pretty easy, or so I thought but maybe I'm just high maintenance. Whatever.

The woman preparing my sub grabbed a handful of chicken pieces, weighed them, and then put them in a slotted container and submerged them in what appeared to be a hot water bath for about thirty seconds. I immediately wondered if that same water bath, or whatever the liquid was, was used to heat up the beef in their other subs. Not being a consumer of red meat, this thought did not sit well with me. While that unappetizing idea rolled around in my head, the counter person finished making my sub and put it on the broiler oven conveyor to melt the cheese. I then proceeded to the checkout where my purchase was rung up. When given the total, I realized I had been given a regular size instead of the large one that I had ordered. In retrospect, this turned out to be a blessing in disguise.

My friend who accompanied me followed with her order of a large Smoked Turkey on rosemary Parmesan bread without onions, to go. They got the size right on her choice, she paid them and we headed home to enjoy our lunch selections.

Unfortunately, we were both less than happy with our subs. The first thing we noticed was that her large was only about an inch and a half longer than my regular size. She was not too happy about this as she had paid $8.19 plus tax compared to my cost of $5.89 plus tax.

Next came the taste. Disappointing to say the least. My mesquite chicken tasted like a raw onion sub with an occasional bite of chicken thrown in. It had a minimal amount of lettuce in it and I couldn't find any tomatoes at all. The melted cheese gave it a little flavor and I added the ranch dressing, which made it edible, but not anywhere near the quality that I had expected. My friend tasted it and, not tasting any chicken in the first few bites, asked me if I had ordered the veggie sub.

The Smoked Turkey sub was equally disappointing. The menu boasted oven roasted turkey but what was in the sub was the slippery cold cut quality sliced turkey. Yuck! Maybe it was a good thing that they were skimpy with that meat as well! The roasted red pepper sauce was the only good thing this sub had going for it.

Needless to say, our experience was less than optimal. Their advertising campaign is very effective to get people in the door but, if they don't deliver the quality of food they show in their commercials, customers won't make a return visit. For the price, I expected the delicious looking subs that we saw in their ads. What we got was anything but delicious.

I love Subway but the commercials make me want to try Quizno's....now I am not so sure. Maybe I will just stick with Subway

When we finally got a Quiznos in our area, I had a crummy experience too. So I never go there, I always go to Subway. Great article!

I have always preferred Quiznos to Subway. Yes, it's more pricey and as a college kid that keeps me from frequenting Quiznos, but because the sandwiches always taste more fresh (and the hot sandwiches are great). Maybe you just had bad luck with that particular visit.

I've never tried Quiznos and probably never will. At least I know I'm not missing out on anything.

This was helpful. We recently got two in the area and have been thinking about going. I don't think we will waste our time now.

I had Quiznos once and wouldn't bother going back.

Thanks for the article. We have been wanting to try Q's but have been waiting. I guess we will be waiting for alittle while longer.

We have one and the service is always bad. They always screw up my order. And they advertise on TV how much meat they put on their sandwiches, that's just not the case. For a good sandwich I have to go to a local deli. The fast food places just don't put much meat on the sandwiches.

I really wanted to try to Quizno's and me and boyfriend went out there and never even got any food. The cashier was so hateful we just left. I'm glad to know that I'm not missing anything delicious. Great article.

I LOVE Quiznos! I think you should give it another try, just try one somewhere else. Not all chains are created equal. I used to love Subway, I would go once a week for their specials. Now that I have tried Quiznos though, I have eaten at Subway twice and fed most of it to my dog. There is no comparison in the quality. The Quiznos in our area is great!
