Quote Roundup: Gamers' Wish List for World of Warcraft: Cataclysm

Y! Lyn
World of Warcraft gamers are abuzz with talk of the new features in Cataclysm. We were able to draw some hardcore U.S. players away from the game long enough to get their Cataclysm feature wish lists. From more character slots to world updates and even an 'intervention' button, check out their requests to see if you agree. What's on your wish list for WoW: Catcalysm?

"I would love to see a melee healing class, similar to the Warrior Priest in Warhammer Online. There's something about the gritty nature of fighting an enemy and keeping your allies alive at the same time that current healing classes can't offer, because they are mostly ranged by nature." - Jaime Skelton of Utah; six years worth of WoW gameplay.

"My biggest wish for Cataclysm is additional character slots. I have many characters. In Cataclysm there is a ton of new low-level content. Without new character slots, my only option to experience this content on my home server is to delete characters I have spent many hours building." - John Daniels in North Carolina; six years worth of WoW gameplay.

"I'd love to see more professions, including bard, woodcutter and carpenter. On a more macabre note, humanoids should be skinnable. Players that find themselves skinned have extra seconds with the Spirit Healer; they're out of the fight longer. Humanoid skinning should be an advanced skill, learnable by grand master skinners." - Alex Cabrien in Georgia; five years worth of WoW gameplay.

"Feature I want added: an 'Intervention' button. When clicked, The World of Warcraft will be completely and totally erased off their computer for always and eternity. It would also erect a permanent firewall to prevent ever accessing WoW servers ever again. Added bonus: It would alert medical emergency personnel that a nerd is about to die of WoW withdrawal. Many lives and relationships can still be saved!" - Patrick Thate in Maryland; three years "wasted on WoW."

"I want to see an underwater zone that isn't laggy and doesn't suck. Like an underwater city. Something totally new we've never seen before in WoW." - Tim Brand in Texas; has been playing WoW since beta.

"I'd like to have the ability to customize the body shapes of our characters in addition to changing their facial features. It just doesn't seem realistic to have each race and gender have only one kind of body shape." - Ann Olson in Minnesota; has been playing WoW for one and a half years, through every expansion (except obviously Cata).

"My biggest wish for Cataclysm was for them to update the old world. Many of the quests on Azeroth were created in beta, and didn't make sense or had useless rewards. It's also about time they split The Barrens into two separate zones!" - Jillian McCoy of Pennsylvania; has been playing since WoW was released in 2004.

"My biggest wish and the one that trumps all the rest is the need for more complex raids encounters. While WOTLK managed to give us a few masterpieces, the majority of the encounters feel like formalities when compared to the Lich King, Yogg-Saron, Professor Putricide and others." - Rashawn Blanchard in New York; has four years worth of WoW gameplay.

"Things I'd like to see in Cataclysm (but I know won't be there as I've been following the patch updates) would include a return to the old Arathi Basin. I'd like to see a large scale battleground that's based on more than speed. I'd also like to see the Ethereal guys from BC as playable characters, mostly because they look neat." - Robert Rohe in Illinois; has four years worth of WoW gameplay.

"WoW Cataclysm could take a quantum leap forward with player-generated content. The ability to design gear, construct buildings, raise tall cities brick by brick, and watch the enemy raze our cities back into the ground. The evolution of MMORPG will see players becoming the builders and storytellers." - Katy Cross; has been a WoW "addict" for five years.

I love WoW. Games like this can be fun and addictive. It's important to impose limits when playing games of this type. My whole family plays, but not for hours on end on a daily basis.

I used to love Warcraft, but never played WOW which looks like it's a totally different animal. I agree with the person who said about needing a button to obliterate the game and prevent it being installed again, since games like this do destroy lives and relationships.
