Henry Ford
--------------------------------------------
Here is a brief history of Henry Ford
He was born 1863 on a farm near Dearborn, Michigan. His father was from County Cork, Ireland and his mother, though born in Michigan was a first time American of Belgium parents.
He had 161 patents to his name as an inventor and started out fixing watches at the young age of 15. By 16 he was an apprentice mechanist working on and repairing steam engines.
By 40 he and 11 investors started the Ford Motor Co with only $28,000. He designed and sold his Model T cars in 1908 for $825.
]
Then he introduced the first moving assembly belt which made
mass production on an assembly line possible.
He started the 40 hour work week also but paid twice what everyone else was paying so his workers could afford his products.
In 1926 he developed the tri-motor airplane.
They say he was a hard master and never got on well with his son, especially after his son took over the company he built.
He never had an accountant or an audit of his company until after his son Edsel took over the company.
His son died at age 49 four years before he did. He died in 1947 at age 83, in Dearborn not far from where he was born.
