Quote of the Week by Lu Xun

Lu Xun was Considered the Greatest Writer of the 20th Century in China

"Hope is like a path in the countryside: originally there was no path - - yet, as people are walking all the time in the same spot, a way appears."

by Lu Xun

The pen name of Lu Xun belonged to a Chinese writer named Zhou Shuren, who was born in 1881 and died in1936. He was considered the greatest Chinese writer of the 20th century. He was there when the last emperor fell, during the civil war, when the Japanese invaded China and during the beginning of the Communist revolution; a turbulent era in the Chinese history. He was a writer, essayist and one of the founders in Shanghai of the Left wing writers of the Chinese League. Most of his writing was rather pessimistic but this quote was one that I felt was not so much that way and his writing has affected many lives in his short lifetime.

This is one reason I wanted to use this quote, since I try to cover all spectrum's of wisdom no matter from where they come, without prejudice in my quote of the week. There are wise men in all countries, walks of life and in every age if we but look for them. I personally support the Dali Lama and the Tibetan people, before someone thinks otherwise ,but I found these words very special because there is "Hope" that one day the Dali Lama will be able to return to his own country without danger. Maybe if enough people walk in the same path and share the same viewpoint a way will appear.

Hats off to you for supporting the Tibetan people. We can only hope there will be other great leaders who can put out this burning flame of terror on humankind. Thank you for enlightening us with this quote.

Interesting article. I live in Thailand and am obsessed with Asian culture. I'm currently appalled at the countries who are threatening to boycott the Olympics and making the torch ceremonies such a mess. And yes, I'm completely supportive of Tibet and think China has terrible human rights, but if people knew anything about Asian culture they would realize pushing China like this will not solve the Tibet problem. It will only force China to withdraw and treat Tibetans even worse. Sorry for the rant, but that just reminded me :-) I do think a 'way appears' but what West is doing against China right now is not that way.

What a wonderful and inspiring quote. Here's a super example of how God's timing works. You posted this a few days ago, but I am just sorting through my emails and found your link. So I just read this, right after learning that a dear friend has suddenly lost her son in Iraq. God is the source of all hope. May he comfort the family and friends and young widow of this dear boy. Thanks for the encouraging quotation, my friend.

I try to give you background on these wise men because their lives usually reflect why they say what they do. If we can understand the men and woman who say these things, it brings them closer to us and besides it helps to educate us to other views. times and worlds .
