Quote of the Week by Lysander Spooner

Lysander Spooner was an Independent Thinker and Libertarian

Lysander Spooner came from a farm family in Massachusetts and was born in 1808, He died in 1887. He was a political philosopher and a libertarian but mostly he was know for starting his own type of Post office called the American Letter Mail Company because he didn't like the post office.

He did not trust government in any respect and this caused him much heartache. He questioned how the country could be financial healthy in 1836 and broke in the 1840's, (which is a great question that we might ask today because not so long ago we had a balanced budget and now our country is up to our ears in debt). NO matter how much he tried he always seemed to live in poverty and be poor although he had some great ideas.
Here area couple of his quotes to let you see how his mind worked

"That no government, so called, can reasonably be trusted, or reasonably be supposed to have honest purposes in view, any longer than it depends wholly upon voluntary support."

"The only security men can have for their political liberty, consists in keeping their money in their own pockets."
By Lysander Spooner

PS. I am hoping soon to have some help with my husband and then I'll try to be back reading everyone's AC content. Thanks for your patience.

Lysander Spooner seems to be a very astute fellow and one many in the United States (and other nations as well) might want to take a moment and study...
