Ready For The World, noted as one of the top bands of the '80s and '90s, is on tour, and as well preparing to release a new CD.

Due to the revival of the 80's classic R & B music genre and numerous "Oldies but Goodies" playlists by radio DJ's nationwide, many '80s and '90s musical hit makers have been encouraged to reunite and have been requested for performance dates and tours.

Noted as one of the most popular, chart topping bands of the 1980s, Ready For The World's seductive sound captivated female fans internationally. The sensual lyrics enticed fans to sing along. The bands seductive music, trendy fashions, and the now infamous Jheri Curl hairstyles helped propel the group's signature brand and popularity.

It was in 1982 in Flint, Michigan that six high school friends formed the band, including, Melvin Riley (lead vocals), Willie Triplett (Percussion), Gordon Strozier (lead guitar), Jon Eaton, (bass guitar (percussions), and Gerald Valentine (drums).

In 1983, they established their own record label, Blue Lake Records, releasing their first single, "Tonight." The song was a hit garnering the band local celebrity status. Well known Detroit Radio DJ "The Electrifying Mojo" played a role in stirring up momentum over the song, ultimately helping to secure a recording contract with MCA records.

MCA re-released "Tonight" which hit #6 on the R & B charts. Riding the wave of their first hit single, the group released a follow-up song, "Deep Inside Your Love," from their self-titled debut album. Their 3rd single, "Oh Sheila," hit #1 on R & B, Pop, Dance, and Video charts, taking them to double platinum status. From the same album, the song "Digital Display" hit #6 on the R & B charts.

The second album, Long Time Coming ranked in the top 10 on the Pop Charts, and the song, "Love You Down," was #1 on R&B charts, and #9 on Pop charts.

The illustrious sounds of Ready For the World has inspired other artist to tribute, sample, and remake their music including, rapper, Twista with his remake of the songs, "Tonight" featuring Trey Songz and "Slow Jamz" featuring Jamie Foxx also hit #1 on Billboards Hot 100.

There's no revolving door or replacing members here. Ready For The World maintains its six original members and is currently preparing to release a new CD. They have recently performed on the Soul Food tour, sharing the bill with other 80's and 90's favorites including, SWV, Dru Hill, and Tank.

What's next for Ready For The World? Fans can expect the rebirth of the bands' sensuous sound infused with today's beats, hoping to rekindle the flames of their original fan base and gain new ones as well.
