RabAvert Rabies Vaccine Ingredients

RabAvert is the Trade Name for the rabies vaccine manufactured by Chiron Behring GmbH & Company. RabAvert Rabies Vaccine Ingredients include the viral component fixed-virus strain Flury LEP, the antibiotics neomycin, chlortetracycline, and amphotericin B, the chemicals potassium glutamate, and sucrose, and the animal and human by products of human albumin, bovine gelatin and serum "from source countries known to be free of bovine spongioform encephalopathy," and chicken protein.

The viral component of the Rabies vaccine is an introduction of rabies into the body, however vaccines do not provide permanent immunity. For animals and our pets, we do not consider or weight the risk and benefits as we do for humans and there are two sides of the argument just as much for animal vaccines as there are for human vaccines. Granted for those who live in the country or mountains as we do, there is a risk of our cat or dog getting in a scrap with a fox or other wild animal that could be a rabies carrier. So you should weight the risk of your pet getting rabies over the risks imposed by vaccines. On the other hand, I believe the rabies vaccines are the same treatment used on humans for thos who have been bitten by a potentially rabid animal, and those who work with animals, especially wild animals, might consider taking a rabies vaccine. Anyone receiving a vaccine of any kind should inquire as to the brand and request the insert sheet as well as to find out what other rabies options there are and request the one felt safest to use, if you insist on getting the vaccine.

Neomycin is a powerful antibiotic, and many people are allergic to a variety of antibiotics. You should be aware of your allergies before accepting this vaccine as neomycin can be rough especially with allergies. On another note Neomycin is also a Nephrotoxin and can damage the kidneys. It is also Neurotoxic, (central nervous system) and Ototoxic, (effecting the ear). Today they are several varieties of vaccines that use Neomycin and other antibiotics in the same family group, and my concern is the compounding and chronic use of these antibiotics in the form of multiple vaccines over a long period of time, may not only cause cumulative damage and potential nephropathy, (kidney failure), but the over use of antibiotics also tends to make antibiotics less effectual when you may really need them.

Chlortetracycline is a tetracycline antibiotic which again many people are allergic to this family of drugs. Once again this should be a contraindication for the vaccine.

Amphotericin B is an antifungal used for systemic fungal infections and it is normally the last resort medication due to its commonly severe and potentially lethal side effects. Amphotericin B side effects under normal use include high fever, shaking chills, hypotension, anorexia, nausea, vomiting, headache, dyspnea, and tachypnea and intravenous use has been linked to multiple organ damage including cardiac failure.

The chemicals potassium glutamate, and sucrose appear to be relatively innocuous as sucrose is basically sugar and Potasium Glutamate doesn't seem to have much information on it's potential toxicity.

RabAvert Rabies Vaccine Ingredients also includes the animal and human by products of human albumin, bovine gelatin and serum "from source countries known to be free of bovine spongioform encephalopathy," and chicken protein are all from animals. Every animal has viral and baterial particles that are indigenous to them, this is how simian virus SV40 weas discovered and introduced into man. All of these animal proteins carry the potential of transporting some new and dangerous disease into the individual. You notice that the claim for the bovine components is they come from a country known to be free of Bovine Spongioform Encephalopathy, better known as mad cow disease. Md cow disease is very similar to Alzheimer's except it does not require old age to kick in. This is just one of many illnesses that can be transported via foreign animal matter. If you look closely at vaccine history and new or spontaneous illness outbreaks, you will see a very close association with vaccines and their introduction and widespread use to illnesses like Polio, AIDS, HIB, and others. There are also potential allergies to be aware of, Gelatin, beef, and chicken can all be potential hazards to those with allergies.
