Rabies Alert Issued in Royal Oak
Neighborhood: Royal Oak
Royal Oak, MI 48067
United States of America
The two reported incidents of skunks, both of which were determined to be rabid, being found in different sections of the city has prompted the issuing of a rabies alert. Citizens are urged to be aware of any wild animals that are normally considered nocturnal (seen more often during night hours) being seen during daylight hours. These can include raccoons, foxes, and of course skunks. Bats, too, can carry rabies.

If you see an animal that you suspect may be rabid, contact the Police Department at 248-246-3500. Do not approach the animal yourself, and keep your pets away from it also. By the way, are their vaccinations up to date?
