Rachel Maddow Jon Stewart Interview: Jon Calls a Foul Ball (VIDEO)

Jon Stewart may not "be on the field", as he claimed in his interview with Rachel Maddow of MSNBC, recently. But, he's definitely the umpire in what he and Rachel Maddow metaphorically referred to as the game of journalism.

In what had to be one of the worst suck-up interviews I've seen in a while, Rachel Maddow did her best to conduct and direct an interview with Jon Stewart, who had appeared on her show. I say, did her best, because it was clear who was running the interview and it sure wasn't Rachel Maddow.

Poor Rachel sat there dutifully, taking her lumps, while Jon Stewart did what Jon Stewart does best these days, scolded and cajoled Maddow over her lack of journalistic integrity and objectivity. Namely, by the way she and others at her network handled the Tea Party members.

You may remember, many of the so-called journalists on MSNBC and CNN of all places, used a sexual pejorative to describe members of the Tea Party.

Jon Stewart made quite a bit of hay over the continual denigration of the Tea Party members by MSNBC and others, saying it was derogatory and unnecessary. Jon further suggested that it tarnished journalism and lowered the limbo bar of journalistic integrity (my words) for Maddow and others at MSNBC.

Trying to defend herself, Rachel made the comment that she thought it was amusing that members of the Tea Party used the term (teabagging) and did not know what it meant. Well, count me in as one of them, Rachel.

But I don't think it is a signal of my lack of intelligence because I'm not hip to what I've now learned is a reference to a sexual act performed by gay (and some heterosexual) men. Um, maybe it's because I don't run in those circles?

All in all, the interview was a spanking for Rachel Maddow in which she came off as nothing more than a groveling fool. Though, Jon Stewart did show a little mercy and threw a redemptive bone toward the end of the interview by telling the groveling Maddow, "I like you."

Maddow responded by blushing like a little school girl who had just impressed the headmaster with her spelling test, bowing her head, smiling and whispering, "thank you".

Oy Vey. There's a reason MSNBC is hanging on by a very thin thread in the war for viewer ratings.

I don't blame her. She needs all the ratings she can get. No one would bother watching her without knowing they could watch Jon Stewart.

Maddow hated it so much she's re-running the interview Friday, by popular demand!
