Rachel Uchitel to Release Information About Tiger Woods Relationship

New York party planner Rachel Uchitel, identified as a woman with whom professional golfer Tiger Woods allegedly had an affair, will be releasing information today on the status of her relationship with Woods, according to a Huffington Post report. Uchitel is reported by Radar Online to have met with Tiger Woods when he was there during a recent golf tournament.

Woods, who is married to Elin Nordegren and has two children with his wife of five years, has released a widely known statement that he is "not perfect," has "let his family down," and has admitted to "transgressions."

A Look Back: When And How Did The Tiger Woods Controversy Begin?

The fallout for Tiger Woods began on the morning of November 27, when he was involved in a single-car accident near his home in Florida.

While it is generally known that the Florida Highway Patrol has cited him only for careless driving, the media has charged the vehicular incident as stemming from any number of causes, including a domestic violence incident to prescription drug usage (Woods has had surgeries over the past few years to address golf-related injuries).

However, it is well known that Florida law enforcement reported seeing no evidence of any these claims as contributing factors to the accident and has formally closed the investigation.

The news of a possible affair between Tiger Woods and Rachel Uchitel has come in light of the media attention focused on Woods, the vehicle accident, and now women coming out claiming to have been involved in affairs with the married golfer. Over the past few days, marketing manager Kalika Moquin and cocktail waitress Jaimee Grubbs - both of Las Vegas - have joined Uchitel in saying they, too, have been romantically tied to Woods. The Examiner reports Grubbs is attempting to substantiate her claim that she was Woods' mistress by releasing a voicemail message with Woods requesting she remove her name from her phone number.

Ruminations: Will Any Of This Affect Woods' Career?

Even if any or all of the claims of these alleged affairs are true - and even if possible criminal charges were to eventually ensue for any of the involved parties - it is difficult to see Tiger Woods' career being permanently derailed because of this controversy.

Woods has won 14 major titles and is popularly chasing down all-time golfing great Jack Nicklaus' record of 18 major titles. Woods has been a galvanizing figure in golf ever since he won his first U.S. Master's title in 1997, when he shattered golf's major-title champion color barrier and quickly introduced scores of new fans - young and old, black and white - to golf. Woods has been involved with numerous charities over his years as a professional golfer, has multi-million dollar contracts with sponsors, and has forged relationships with other high-profile athletes, including basketball's Charles Barkley and contemporary tennis great Roger Federer.

While Woods may have lost some fans, the fact remains there will be millions of people who continue to admire Woods for one reason: his enduring and incredible abilities on the golf course.

Oh, man, I was tired of this story the first night it came out. I wish people would just let Tiger and his wife handle this privately.
