I'd noticed Rachel's Yogurts for the longest time. And I'm usually open to trying to new things, but I'd never bought them because the flavors were so strange and exotic, plus the labels are black and have big flowers in the middle of them. They just don't look like any of the usual yogurt brands with the pastel labels and the cows on them.
So I guess I was just put off by Rachel's and too scared to try it. I thought the yogurts were either going to taste way too bland or that they would taste like flowers and herbs for some reason. But I was in the mood to try something more interesting that night, so I decided to buy a 6oz container of Rachel's Pomegranate Açai Vitality Yogurt for $1. I knew that the Pomegranate Açai flavor would be exotic but still familiar to me since I like the way both fruits taste.
The Pomegranate Açai has all natural ingredients including non-fat milk, evaporated cane juice, pomegranate juice, cream, açai, natural flavors, pectin, agar, DHA algal oil, and live and active cultures. It has 160 calories and 25 fat calories. There are 2.5g of total fat, 10mg of cholesterol, 140mg of sodium, 26g of carbohydrates, and 8g of protein.
I ate the yogurt later on that night and was pleasantly surprised at the taste. Usually yogurts have mild flavors but the flavor in Rachel's exploded. The açai is a mild and sweet berry that makes this yogurt kind of taste like a mixed berry flavored yogurt.
But then the pomegranate flavor really takes over and adds this strong zesty berry flavor. Then it leaves behind this intense tanginess that made my taste buds feel so alive. The flavors were as intense as the ones in a real pomegranate but even more so because the juice isn't contained in the little pomegranate seeds, so the flavor just hits you all at once.
The only thing that I didn't like about the Rachel's Pomegranate and Açai Vitality Yogurt was that it was kind of thin and I like thicker yogurts. Besides that I just wish I would have tried it months ago and that my grocery store carried it in a larger size because this yogurt is the bomb.
In The End...
I loved this Rachel's yogurt, I thought the flavors were potent and it actually made me feel a little bit more vital and vibrant after I ate it. I loved the flavor and could eat it for breakfast or as a dessert. I will be buying the Pomegranate Acai version again, but I'm definitely willing to buy other flavors. 5 out of 5 stars.
