Racial Attacks in the United States!

Foxnews.com is currently reporting 9 people killed, and 2 wounded in a shooting that took place at a beer distribution warehouse earlier this morning. The gunmen, Omar S. Thorton, was identified by police, and is believed to have started the attack on the warehouse due to racism.

According to foxnews.com Thorton was being brought up on a disciplinary issues. Fox61 in Hartford reported that Thorton believe he was being discriminated against, and the supervisor failed to do anything to assist Thorton..

Thorton is just one of many racial motivated attacks. The Wall Street Journal is reporting about Staten Island in New York. Police in Staten Island are being forced to add more patrols after a string of Hispanic hate crimes began to ensue.

The number of racial attacks seem appear to be rising, and when I hear about such an event occurring I am heartbroken. We are a society that was created by different races. That is what makes the United States different than other countries. We, the United States, is not just a country made of whites, blacks or Indians, but rather a country made up of them all.

About seven years ago I meant a man online from South Africa. After talking to him for months, I finally got to see a picture of him. My first words out of my mouth was 'You're white'. That is not uncommon thinking to see a country as a certain race. You think of South Africa you think of Africans. India, Iraq, China and Japan are one major race.

America is not, but instead it is all races. Whites, blacks, Mexicans, Chinese, Japanese and many more make up the United States. It is that what makes our country unique from all others. The sad thing about it is unlike the other countries, like China, America is constantly at war.

Back when the war started with Iraq, I made a comment, a bad comment. My comment was 'if we were not at war with other countries, than we are at war with ourselves', and if you look at American history you will see that statement, for the most part, is correct. America is the youngest of all countries, yet we have went to war more than any other country.

We have had valid reasons to go to war. We went to war for our freedom, and for the freedom of others. That is a very strong reason to fight, but to attack a man or woman on the street because you do not like the color of their skin is not.

That is cruelty, and I hate to say it but, animals get better treatment. The war of the races will probably never come to an end, after all we are human beings. However, if the United States is going to be an effective country in ending the war on people, than it is our duty to unite as a country.

I am much the same Michele. Everyone is equal, and should be treated as such. These attacks are one example of how different everyone truly is.

I don't see in colors or cultures. I love people, all people - it's the terrorist activities that I will not tolerate or the bullies in this world (and they come in all shapes, sizes and colors) cheers :)

It may be a coo, in light of the recent Arizona laws and stuff. To get us all worked up. Just a thought. Nicely written again :)
