Racism Alive and Well....but Just Barely

Sin Lucas
I just wasted about five minutes of my life that I will never be able to get back. This time was wasted reading an article that I found on ABC News about a set RACIST twins from California that are gallivanting around the country singing at white supremacist rallies and redneck county fairs spreading their message of hate and intolerance. Now you ask, what is so important about these twins that they've found themselves being covered by ABC, GQ and other supposed reputable media outlets...NOT A DAMN THING.

With all the important things going on in the world you mean to tell me that ABC couldn't find anything important to report on. How about the War In Iraq? Despite what you might have heard we're still fighting over there.

Racism exist people, it's alive and well and that's a ugly fact of life, but we shouldn't help these psycho twins and the rest of their one tooth organization spread their message of hate by giving them a national forum to use (by the way that's exactly why i haven't bothered to mention their names because their names don't matter. Nothing about them matters).

And to tell you the truth, while reading the article i was mad, but afterward i just felt bad for these little girls, Why you ask? Because people aren't born racist, these children weren't born racist. They didn't wake up one day and say "You know what Ma, I really do hate those Mexicans". They were taught this. They were taught to hate and to disrespect others because of their differences and they were taught this by the very ones that are suppose to be raising them to love thy neighbor and show respect for others regardless of their race.

But the truth is that these twins, the ones teaching them this behavior, and others like them are ignorant and do you know how you beat ignorance...YOU IGNORE IT. Don't read what they have to say and DAMN well don't listen to anything they have to say.

America is changing (slowly, but it's changing). It's no longer just black and white. We are a melting pop of cultures, it's one of the aspects of the US that makes it so special. There is no longer any room here for people that act and think that way and that's why these racist are fading away and they are going to continue to fade away until their extinct.

Interesting article. On the flip side, we have to watch out for hidden racism the kind that befriends us at first then all of sudden brings to light its true nature.

I think we all realize that racism is still a big part of America and it will probably always be, but the media has a responsibility to this country and it's citizens not to advertise for the ignorant. The Michael Richards in this world are obviously out there, but i believe that in America we know that's not exceptable. You might want to say it, but you don't and why don't you...because you'll end up on David Letterman via satellite saying "i'm not a racist"

Interesting commentary, but it's more than " just barely" - it's alive and kicking and it's under disguise until something big happens and then becomes more apparent to whites. Two examples off the top of my head are the way our government handled Katrina, and this outburst of Michael Richards. And if you want to look at it globally, it is the REASON why the crisis in Sudan gets no coverage in this country's media. Just those three examples alone are way more than "just barely" ...
