Racism is Not Dead in America

Alfonso Coley
We have come so far, and yet it seems our journey in defeating racism is far from over, as our nation is still dealing with the malignant cancer that eats away at the very fabric of our nation.

There seems to be a certain majority of White-Americans who live with ghost of the past, and those who continue to teach prejudice and spread bigotry to their children, who in turn will do the same if they do not move away from these harmful practices.

Any free thinking man or woman can clearly dissimilate between right and wrong, and our very conscience tells us deep down inside, there are many races who still hold racism in their heart.

It would seem that our nation has undergone a new transformation, where there are those who openly preach prejudice, whether it be online, or in secret sects of our society.

Racism is one of the most damaging forms of hatred that has existed for centuries in America , despite the Civil Rights Movement efforts to free African-Americans from the chains of oppression in America ; the plight for equality on behalf of many African-Americans continues on in this new millennium.

Most African-American would tend to agree that they are better off than their predecessors were due in part to the valiant efforts of so many African-Americans, and many White-Americans who stood side by side in the fight for equality of all people of color.

Ever since Barack Obama was elected president, there have been many attacks on his character, despairingly remarks about his wife, and downright distasteful comments about his children. I have often wondered what makes a person hate another person so, and pondered why these actions rule a person's psyche and life.

Racism is not dead in America , and the struggle for equality in the job market will continue to be an uphill battle for many African-American men and women. The only true way to separate and navigate ones self away from the drowning pool of racism would be to continuously move away from those people that participate in such a vile act.

If our nation is to move past the ills of prejudice and bigotry, it will take courage under fire to realize that we are all one part of a greater source - where our humanity is our genetic connection with God and our inner conscience.

Great work Al and no, racism is not dead in America at all. The election of a black president has, unfortunately brought to the surface a lot of sickening acts of racial hatred and injustice that had apparently never gone away quite as much as we all would have hoped.

Much needed article Alfonso. I applaud you. Racism cannot be extinguished, but those who practice and teach it soon self destruct within their own families. Wisdom will have you ready for whatever comes your way. Be blessed.

No, racism is not dead in America, but we have to be able to make a difference.
