Eastmonte Park offers four adult racquetball leagues, which are played Monday through Thursday. The "A" league, which is for the EXPERTS, plays every Monday night. The "B" league, which is for experienced players not quite ready for the A league, is played on Tuesday nights. The "C1" league, which is for players with more skills than the average Joe, is played on Wednesday nights. The "C2" league, which is for beginners and/or players still honing their skills, is played on Thursday nights. The start times for the matches are anywhere from 6 PM to 8 PM. You play one opponent per week. You play best two out of three games with your opponent. The first two games go to 15 points. If there is a third game, you play to 11, and you must win by at least 2 points.
Each league generally has between 8 and 14 players. Your schedule consists of 8 regular season match-ups with other players in your league. After the regular season is over, you begin a single elimination tournament. Usually, the top 4 players in each league have a bye for the first round of the tournament. Every single player makes the tournament, so even the person that went 0-8 will have a chance to participate; however, he/she will be matched up against one of the highest seeds, so it could be a quick match! The winner of the tournament is awarded with a trophy and a gift card.
The registration fee is $35, which includes a free T-shirt and 4 new racquetballs. This fee covers all court fees, as well. However, if you miss a week and have to reschedule a match on a different night, then you will have to pay the court fees, which are $2 per person. Typically, the person that was responsible for postponing the match is also the person responsible for paying the court fees. Eastmonte Park offers a spring, summer and fall season.
If you would like to obtain more information about this racquetball league, you can visit their website, at http://www.altamonte.org/department/leisure/index.asp?ACTION=viewsub&ID=227 This site maintains updated schedules and standings so you can track your ranking and keep track of who your next opponent is. If you want to join one of the leagues, make sure you sign up as soon as possible! The current league members get first dibs on sign-ups, so there are never too many openings left after they have signed up.
