Radiesse for the Non-Surgical Nose Job

Radiesse is a non-surgical procedure that is catching on in the 21st century. Traditionally for wrinkle treatment, plastic surgeons are using Radiesse in more than one way.

There are some cosmetic procedures that are more popular than others. Breast augmentation is one. Nose surgery is another. Nose surgery is one of the most popular of cosmetic procedures. Celebrities and non-celebrities alike are rushing to their cosmetic surgeons to reshape their noses into more attractive ones.

There are many reasons for wanting to reshape the nose. In addition to aesthetic reasons, like creating more of a facial balance and proportion in relation to other areas on the face, a nose job can be done to correct facial deformities that interfere with proper breathing. Alternatively, they can be accomplished to correct a facial injury.

The traditional way to correct a nose is with rhinoplasty, which is nose reshaping surgery that is invasive. However, many people are unaware that there is a non-surgical nose job available that is accomplished through the use of Radiesse.

What is Radiesse? It's an FDA approved, non-allergy producing, component that consists of calcium hydroxylapatite suspended in gel (carboxymethylcellulose). Radiesse is applied via injections and can last from 2 to 6 years. It's the filler of choice for non-surgical nose jobs because of its longevity.

Unlike invasive surgery, such as rhinoplasty, Radiesse injections do not present the same risks. There may be slight redness, swelling, tenderness or an itching sensation in the area that has been treated. However, this is a normal reaction to such an injection and will go away in just a day or a couple of days. With rhinoplasty the swelling can take as much as a year to return to normal.

Two major advantages of Radiesse injections are the safety and the recovery time. Radiesse last for one year, so further injections are necessary to maintain the look. The cost of a Radiesse nose job is about $1,000 in comparison to $8,000 to $15,000 for rhinoplasty.

The procedure for a Radiesse nose job takes approximately 20 minutes. The procedure is done outpatient and the doctor may apply a local anesthetic. The swelling goes down quickly and you're back to work or your choice of activity. After the initial procedure, patients return for a follow up.
