Rahm Emanuel Has the Endorsement of the Chicago Tribune, Jesse White for Mayor

Major Newspaper and First African-American Endorsement

Are you tired of politics yet? I sure am. I think we have to admit that Obama's presidency so far has been tense. Power has gone back and forth. One figure in Illinois politics is Rahm Emanuel, who is running for the mayor of Chicago.

Newsmax has posted an article at their website titled "Chicago Tribune endorses Rahm Emanuel for Mayor."

Emanuel has notoriety because he was a congressman and most notably was Obama's White House Chief of Staff.

Emanuel is also highly visible because at first he was left off the ballot because the voting authorities determined he had not been a Chicago resident in the last year while he was working out in Washington, D.C. However, Emanuel sued them and won, getting his name on the ballot.

Emanuel was most recently in the news because he upset the city workers of Chicago by running an ad stating they should have a "different mindset" and examine resolve. Right after the ad, a city worker died shoveling snow.

Additionally, Rahm Emanuel has taken a shot at the Chicago pension plan, indicating it must be reformed, which scares a lot of people.

Many city workers are turning to mayoral candidate Gery Chico.

Along with the Chicago Tribune's endorsement, Emanuel got his first major endorsement from an African-American in the person of Illinois Secretary of State Jesse White.

I have never cared for Rahm Emanuel. His persona in this mayoral race has been, as the Chicago Tribune says in their endorsement, "tactical shrewdness." I call it sneaky, and I think he is arrogant.

In fact, the Tribune went on to say that Emanuel was "well connected" and also "energetic," among other things.

Emanuel has obtained other endorsements, including ones from teamsters and trade unions.

I live 2 ½ hours from Chicago in Peoria, Illinois. It really doesn't directly affect me if Emanuel gets elected or not. Chicago politics isn't going to change. It is all about size and power.

However, I had a chance to watch Rahm Emanuel in action in Washington, D.C., and I just don't like the way he operates.

I think Chicago could do better than Emanuel.
