Rahu will transit from Zodiac sign Capricorn (Makar Rasi) to Zodiac sign Sagittarius (Dhanur Rasi). Ketu will transit from Zodiac sign Cancer (Kataka or Karkataka Rasi) to Zodiac sign Gemini (Mithuna Rasi). Both Rahu and Ketu will stay at Sagittarius and Gemini for the next eighteen months or one and half years.
Rahu and Ketu: Lunar Nodes
You will not find Rahu and Ketu in Western astrology. The intelligent concepts of Rahu and Ketu are unique to Hindu Vedic astrology. The astrology system provides unique status and considered as planets in Hindu Vedic astrology. According to Hindu Vedic astrology Rahu and Ketu are considered as shadow planets. In fact they are lunar nodes or the orbital nodes of the moon. The lunar nodes are the two meeting points where the orbit of the Moon intersects the ecliptic (Sun's path) obliquely. The North Lunar Node or Ascending Node is the north point at which the moon crosses the ecliptic to the north. The South Lunar Node or Descending Node is the south point at which the moon crosses the ecliptic to the south. These two lunar nodes are 180 degrees apart and the movement of these two goes retrograde i.e. anti-clock wise direction. In fact they move against the normal direction of movement of planets. The north and south lunar nodes are identified by varied names in various regions or countries. The age old scriptures of Europe consider these two points as Dragon's head and Dragon's tail. According to Hindu Vedic Astrology the North Lunar Node or Ascending Node is named as Rahu and the South Lunar Node or Descending Node is named as Ketu. The zodiac cycle (complete of one round) of both Rahu and Ketu will be eighteen years and ten days.
