Do we the electorate, really know him now? As I view it, to date, the grilling by the press of Obama's 140+ days in elected office has been non-existent, barely a peek at what this guy has actually accomplished. Most of the coverage I've seen plays as interference glossing over the less than kosher way he's gotten to where he is. I ask, what qualifies him as the agent of change let alone a plausible Commander and Chief? I've pondered this riddle before yet only more questions come in its wake. Could it be that the Democrats are simply electing a profile rather than a person? Couldn't be, everyone knows liberals are against profiling. What happened to their heir apparent? Liberals claim to be the party that is pro-woman, NOW, Gloria Steinem, Code Pink and all that girl power stuff. But they certainly had no problem throwing their girl Hillary off the side of the boat without so much as a net or was that a vet-ting?
Why did the Democrats elect Obama over Hillary? He and she stand for nearly identical agendas, they both are United States Senators, she for 7 years, he for 7 seconds while not running for the presidential nomination but whose keeping score of things like that, right? So he has personal charisma, she, not so much but does charisma and good looks make a person electable to the office of President of the United States? The crazy thing is, if Hillary were the Democrat's choice for president and Obama were her running mate I would be the first one to stand up and yell, game, set, match. Deal done, Dems won. But by a strange turn of fate the unthinkable has happened. Way to go Howard Dean! I am convinced somebody somewhere out there has a really big voodoo doll of Hillary and man, did they pull some bad ju-ju on you-you, Hil.
However, I digress. I keep thinking of how cavalierly the response in answer to Obama's lack of political chops was tossed out there for us all to swallow, nod, lick our lips and ask for more. "We're comfortable and know him now." Not a list of his accomplishments and important work, just that we (obviously the royal we) are now comfortable. And then the knives came out, carving up Sarah Palin. That incompetent bitch! How dare she accept the nomination and expect women to fall for this cheap ploy to garner our support. Female Democrats will never vote for such an impostor. She's a witch I say, burn her at the stake!
What a swarm of pathetic hypocrites those intellectually dishonest liberals are! Any thinking person who has two brain cells to rub together know damn well if Sarah Palin had a (D) next to her name instead of an (R) she'd be touted as the next "It" girl by Howard Dean and his band of scary Dem. Make no mistake, Palin would still be playing second fiddle to Obama the Great but with the verifiable record Palin has as an ass kicker of the corrupt Republican political machine in Alaska, she'd bring all the reforming "change" credibility to the Obama ticket that Ol' Joe "the Xerox" Biden just doesn't. A quick aside: I don't remember the Dem's asking what Geraldine Ferraro's creds were when she was running a heartbeat away from Mondale. I still want to know what Obama's presidential qualifications are and remember he's not running for the heartbeat away, he is the heartbeat, as my heart beats...Oh Lawd, see us through this.
Seriously, do I think McCain picked Palin because she is a woman who'd bring the conservative base home along with having a fantastic personal story that Independent minded women might relate to? Honestly, yes. And I will hazard a bet that she will prove all nay sayers and critics wrong who tout her as a po-dunk politician. My prediction is that she is the real McCoy.
Do I think the Democrat political machine picked Obama over Hillary because he is a black guy with a story that when edited properly sounds progressive and hip? Hell, yes! But that's what's been clamored for. This pick makes the Democrats elated, correction, the Liberals elated. I don't want to tag my Democrat friends with this one. More important than the whys however is the question, are any of the four individuals qualified to be President of the United States of America? In my opinion, yes. Are all of them? In my opinion, no. Does being qualified make an individual a successful president? No but it does help.

Post a CommentGee Amanda, this was an awesomely poignant and damned funny effort Madam. I would like to say I am surprised no one else has commented, but alas you're sounding like a conservative, and as I have painfully discovered myself, conservatives are either hated or largely ignored round here. Go figure. This was still funny as Hell chick! 5 stars - AGAIN!
As for Ferraro's creds, I believe she was a 3 term (6 years) Congresswoman, so not much more than Palin, and zero chief exec. experience. And DAMN GURL! you sure got some sarcasm goin on up in here! Dead between their eyes for sure and for certain. Call in the meat wagon & tell 'em to bring plenty o' them there body bags. And you're right about the difference between Democrats and the uber Libs. Democrats are A-OK with me, but the radicals are pushing this agenda. I keep asking Dems when will they wake up and take back the once fine institution know as the Democrat Party. Hell, I might even could be a Dem if they just convince the radicals that a little hara kiri would better serve their desires. I wonder if we could convince the uber Libs that hara kiri would allow them to sit at the feet of Marx & Lenin? It's worth a try . . . lol
