Rain

Janis I. Monroe
It's raining out...
Much like it has done so many times
Within the past years
Rain is a beautiful thing
Like a field full of wildflowers
And it may be warm or cold
Depending on the season

Not only when the clouds cry
Does the earth get a drink...
But it also receives a cleansing from earthly pollutants
Rain gently washes the leaves of the trees...
As well as many other things that collect dirt

When the sun awakens
From behind its thick veil of clouds
It dries the tears that were left behind
And brings forth heat like a comfy blanket
With the sun's intensifying embrace of warmth
You know that rain clouds will form again...
Purifying the lands in which we live
