Rain

A Longing for Love

Mandy Kaye
I stand-alone
As it rains
The drops on my skin,
Remind me of your teasing touch
Drip by drop
The chilling breeze gives way to
Goosebumps
I want the rain
To hold you
To feel it touch my skin
I see a silhouette of a tree in the bright night sky
Then the lightning gives and takes
Your face
The stars are what the sky is missing
And you to me are gone
A bluish gray sky
A light in the distance
Calls to me
The reflection of that streetlight makes a puddle glow
Do you remember what you did for me?
I sink into the slight depressions of Earth
As the collected rainwater absorbs my bare skin
I shiver
And my body shakes with ecstasy
The rain teases my skin
Slowly at first
But as the wind picks up the rain follows by example
Faster now, I feel the droplets grow
They become heavy, hard
The leaves rustle with the passing wind
And you are here
But my hair covers my eyes
And I am lost again
I know nothing but the rain
And want nothing else
The cool moist droplets caress my skin
Outstretched arms welcome this love
I want more
I need to feel you
I need it to take me over
Drown me with your love!
But there's not enough
It's never enough
The drops kiss my neck as I look back at the sky
I remember you
My eyelids rest
Eyes closed and I see yours looking at me
When summer comes, you'll leave again
I open my mouth and scream
Scream for more
But you are already gone

Very sensual, rain can be a very beautiful thing. Just the sound of rain is very calming and relaxing, listening to you describe the experience of feeling the rain drops tells me you are someone who loves the soft touch of a lover.

Melancholy, but lovely. Thanks for sharing and for stopping by to check out my writing as well. Let's continue to support one another as we let our pens expose our inner selves, for better or for worse. ;-)
