The first song, Don't Fear the River, will have many listeners remembering the first album by Theatre of Tragedy, as Aleksandra Rasulic and Dusan Pesic blends nicely together into one thorny rose that may seem fragile from a distance; however, danger does lie within their voices. The entire band excels, giving a style similar to Therion, highlighting the rhythm guitarist Biljana Rekovic.
Leaves' Frottage is a three part song, with Waves and Deep respectively as parts 2 and 3, which conveys a love song of distance. This three-song trilogy makes Rain Delay a band that should be touring with the likes of either Therion or Theatre of Tragedy, for this trilogy that captures and awakens all. The music has a haunting element without sounding too atmospheric, allowing the technically superior musicianship to show hints of progressive metal and yet allowing both Stefan Radojkovic (bassist) and Zeljko Zec (guitarist) to complement each other, perfectly. The song awakens the metal hearts of fans, moving them through doom and into the Waves of metal taking on new elements. Waves, allows Marko Mrcarica (drums) to come to life with passion and power giving Aleksandra wings of support to trek through a sadden song with Zeljko operating like a mad wizard to drive the meaning of this sweeping love song, without losing the metal audience.
Through the songs My Summer Sojourn and Fulcrum, give a fine attitude adjustment while never become overly cocky and too sure of themselves or their music. The songs still make one quench for the thirst of their metal and for metal fans to ache for more yet treating them with divine respect. The lyrics, music and skill is not lacking on these impressive tracks.
All one must do is purchasing their CD now!
NOTE: Since the release of this CD, Aleksandra Rasulic left Rain Delay, in early 2009 and joined with Oblivion Awaits, also from Serbia, and replaced, with Bojana Milosavljevic. In addition, portions of this CD were in the movie, Milos Brankovic.

Post a CommentGreat review!
Great album!
Funny you've paired them with Therion, MDB, and ToT... I would go for Poison the Well, Mourning Beloveth or maybe even Opeth.
But, it's fine with me ;D
Proves that Rain Delay is a band of its own. Sui generis, as they would say :)
I'll keep following your work.
And theirs, ofc :D
