clouds, thunder, showers,
cooling relief from stifling heat.
Garden fence wet,
wooden spokes darkened.
At early dusk all is quiet
except for chatter of birds.
A rainbow reaches across
the eastern sky,
disappears behind gray
patch of cloud.
Sky is quiet,
desert willow's green
deepens - content.
Four-o-clocks send sweet aroma,
morning glories rest til dawn.
Rain stops,
small white rose filled with blooms
blushes in sun's last rays.
Rainbow settles
into the earth.
Later a star may peek
over this Eden.
(This was written remembering my days in New Mexico.)
